The fungi world of Northern Velebit is very versatile and rich, but so far we have very scarce knowledges about it. The researches are being conducted as we speak, and so far many new species were discovered, some of them have never been spotted in this region before - for example, a nordian lignicolous species was found in Štirovača - Kuehneromyces vernalis, which southmost habitat was found in Suisse Alps. It developed on the remnants of the old saw-mill, on wood debris.

By the way, most of the fungi appear in autumn (about 95%), and only lesser part in spring. The inventarisation is at hand, and this page will be refreshed with new information as soon as we get some. Until now, enjoy the beautiful photo-gallery of the Norhtern Velebit fungi world...
